Streamlining Strategy Execution

BUSINESS PROBLEM

A prominent manufacturer and marketer of home fitness equipment formed a Strategy Execution Office (SXO) to manage its investments over the next 3-5 years but lacked the necessary resources and expertise to execute its strategy within the desired timeframe. Challenges included establishing an effective Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), staffing it with experienced program managers, and ensuring alignment across stakeholders. The SXO also required change leadership to navigate organizational transitions and achieve its strategic goals effectively and efficiently.

OUR APPROACH

To drive focus and clarity across the organization, we partnered with leadership to translate broad goals into actionable plans and performance measures. Our approach ensured agility, transparency, and alignment across initiatives while enabling informed, data-driven decisions.

1. Strategic Planning & Alignment

We collaborated with key executives and initiative owners to break down the high-level roadmap and created a detailed implementation plan. Quarterly KPIs were established and embedded into annual performance reviews to measure progress and drive accountability.

2. Prioritization & Decision Frameworks

By integrating and customizing multiple industry frameworks, we evaluated business value versus effort and developed a baseline of initiatives for executive committee review and selection.

3. Change Management & Timing

A change saturation thermometer was used to assess organizational capacity for change, helping to sequence initiatives and optimize timing based on absorption limits.

4. Execution & Performance Tracking

We centralized KPIs, work plans, and real-time progress updates in a single source of truth, reviewed monthly. Our flexible dashboard allowed for dynamic portfolio shifts while preserving accountability and setting clear expectations.
